Prachi’s story
Prachi Yadav, Facility Management Manager in India, shares the story of her 13-year career with Shell, where she experienced evolving roles that helped her grow, and how she is supported to find the right balance between her work and personal life.
Hi, I’m Prachi, Facility Management Manager Asia, based in India. I joined Shell 13 years ago as an experienced hire. Since then, my journey with Shell has been an exhilarating one; A journey in which I have grown both professionally and personally, and one that has brought me a sense of fulfilment.
With a professional background in commercial, I started my career at Shell India in Retail. Shell offered me a plethora of opportunities that allowed me to draw on my strengths and gave me the chance to develop myself. My Shell career has been a path of self-discovery, I haven’t been in the same role for more than 3 years in a row, and every new role posed different challenges that unearthed different capabilities in me.
I absolutely resonate with Shell’s core values of diversity, inclusiveness, respect and care for people and environment. These are the values which have inspired me, also the reasons why I chose to grow with Shell on a long-term basis. Over the years, I learnt that people are at the very heart of Shell’s values and principles, which made me feel appreciated and motivated to contribute more.
As a working professional, I wear several hats. I am a wife, a mother of my twin girls, a caregiver of aging parents, an avid gardener and I do charity work to help cancer patients. At Shell, I have learnt that the art of success is striking the fine balance, which is unique to each individual, so there is no single blueprint for success.

Shell nurtures women leaders. I draw my inspiration from several senior women leaders and peers I met at Shell including my own EVP at Real Estate, Jeri Ballard. Experiences shared by real life women mentors - how their challenges and struggles turned them into solution-minded leaders, have prompted me to shift gears from focusing on the problem to solution-focused.
As a woman, Shell’s culture of openness and sharing makes one feel that you are not alone. Looking back, it makes me smile that some of the most challenging years personally were also my most rewarding years professionally. This has taught me to never underestimate what we are truly capable of achieving and not to be daunted by challenges.
A day at work with my colleagues at Shell.
Over the span of my 18-year career, if I were to compare my professional life from what I was to where I am today, I feel an increased sense of harmony within myself. In my current role at Shell, I have the privilege to work with several fantastic leaders who I aspire to be. They have been motivating and challenge me to achieve more. And that is what I truly love as I continue to grow.
